Miren Odriozola Gurrutxaga


Miren Odriozola Gurrutxaga was born in 1989 in the Basque Country (Spain). After obtaining her Law Degree (2011, University of the Basque Country) and her Criminology Degree (2013, University of Alicante), she received her PhD in Law from the University of the Basque Country (2015, “Modes of Liability in Atrocity Crimes: an Analysis from the Criminal Law Perspective based on Criminological Contributions”).

She is currently a Lecturer in Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of the Basque Country. She is also a member of the Basque Institute of Criminology. As her scientific publications show, her main research interests are in the field of International Criminal Law, more specifically in the field of modes of liability in ICL. Her current research activities are in the fields of ICL, Human Rights Law, victimology and economic crime.

She has conducted doctoral and post-doctoral research at the Max-Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law (Freiburg, Germany) and Middlesex University (London, United Kingdom).
